Tony Stewart has made a name for himself as one of the top competitors in racing by winning open-wheel and stock-car championships. He's raced about everything with wheels, but when he isn't on the track he doesn't stop competing. Stewart can often be found in his motorcoach collecting poker chips from unlucky crew members.
Stewart was one of the original supporters of the Victory Lane Players Club. When you end up in the same room as Stewart, don't expect any favoritism because you're a fan. Just watch out for his fast-paced playing style!
This season Stewart started off with an impressive run at Daytona. Stewart won the season opening Grand National race, posted a third place finish in the Cup race and managed a tournament win on VLPClub.net in the season opening weekend. Stewart currently leads all VLP Club drivers in tournament wins and will look to continue his hot streak at the tables on the track in first season with a new manufacturer.
Stewart's racing career began at age seven behind the wheel of a go-kart, with his father, Nelson, serving as car owner and crew chief. Moving through the ranks of go-karts to midget cars, Stewart earned a ride in the Indy Racing League. Stewart has pulled double duty in more than one way over the years. As a matter of fact, he once raced a total of 1,090 miles in one day running the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600 in the same day.
Stewart still calls Columbus, Indiana, where he lives in the house he grew up in, home. His sister, Natalie, helps run the Tony Stewart Fan Club along with their mom, Pam Boas, who also runs the Tony Stewart Foundation. Watch out for Tony both on the track and at the VLP Club poker table - you may find another reason why they call him "Smoke".
