Like many professional athletes, Dale Jarrett can never go too long without a little competition. Even when Dale is on vacation with his family, he's always looking for a game and often plans vacations at resorts where he can relax by the pool during the day and play poker at night.
Jarrett enters his final season behind the wheel, planning retirement from full time racing after five races with a career finale at the all-star race in Charlotte. Jarrett has compiled one of the most impressive careers in Cup history with 32 wins at racing’s top level and a championship win in 1999.
Born the son of a legend, two-time champion Ned Jarrett (1961, 1965), Dale's path to stardom appeared inevitable, although it was not one that was easily achieved. A love for racing fueled Jarrett's ambition early in his career. If not for his desire to race cars, Jarrett's career easily could have detoured down the path of another sport. As a successful athlete in high school, Jarrett excelled in football, basketball, baseball and golf. His talent on the golf course prompted the University of South Carolina to offer him a full scholarship, but his resolve to become a racecar driver ultimately won out.
